I am originally from Mexico and have moved twice two the USA during my lifetime. The first time as a high school student and the second time as head of my young family. I was able to compare the two experiences and got a whole new level of respect for my parents when we moved the first time to the US.
Luckily, I do believe things are getting easier as time goes by; however, it is also getting more and more complex to move to a different country, specially in the USA where 58% of the population* do not own a passport. This makes it hard to navigate the waters when you are outside of the normal and people don’t necessarily “think outside of the box”.
Starting at zero in such things as building your credit score or picking the right investment strategy for your retirement are things that no one provides a guide for and as foreigners we have additional challenges to overcome.
